We left Santelices and headed for Bouges. We went out in the same road we had come in on, and with the weather being sunnier, we managed to see the storks again and get some lovely photos.

The journey to Bouges had some more magnificent views, and interesting roads.

We had read that there was a market on in Bouges on a Sunday as one of the car parks for Motorhomes was not available on market day. We had a walk around, but couldn’t see any sign of a market where the car park was. However, on our way back to the Motorhome we thought we could see some market stalls in the opposite direction, so we had a look there. The market was there, selling mainly clothes, so just had a quick look before setting off again.

We planned to stay in Soria tonight, and found a lovely small village on the way, where we stopped for lunch. One of their customers kindly translated the menu for us. We ended up having Russian salad, chucked stuffed with ham and cheese and a cheesecake.

In Soria, we had seen a lovely spot by the edge of a lake and man made beach. Unfortunately, we were only allowed to park there, and could not have chairs outside, windows open etc., as this was classed as camping and isn’t allowed in many parts of Spain apparently, a warden kindly informed us !

We put the chairs away and went to have a ice cream while deciding what to do next. It was very hot and we would have no shade here.

We moved on to a place called Almazan. It was a beautiful place with a lovely courtyard in the centre. It was so full of people, families with young children, older couples and retired couples - it looked like quite the meeting place, and interestingly, they didn’t have phones out, they were all talking to one another !

We went back to the Motorhome and tried to get cool, but it was going to be difficult in this heat. We were surprised to hear families still out late at night, and the last group we heard, we found they were picking elder flowers off the trees in the car park at 00:45am

We later discovered that today was St. John’s Day, and that was why everyone was out celebrating until the early hours.
