Day 51 - 19/06/19 - Cabarceno, Spain

We headed further west today and took some of the more major roads, but still managed to see the most magnificent views.

The roads were still hilly and winding, which adds to the experience and excitement at what delights we will be greeted with around each corner.

We’re also been across a lot of bridges today, quite long ones too - keeping Chris on his toes, and his fingers tighlty gripping the steering wheel.

We reached Cabarceno mid afternoon, and were in time to find a lovely little restaurant and have their menu of the day. Another lovely 3 course meal, a bottle of wine between us and a bottle of water for a bargain €9.50 each !

The stopover is right beside a lovely lake. There were trees covered with birds, but the camera struggled to make them out properly with the evening light.

We also had a little walk around the village to admire the wonderful buildings and views. I met an old Spanish lady in her dressing gown just coming out of a neighbour’s house, and she started to chat with me. I had no idea what she was saying, and told her so. She just chuckled and then carried on talking - we repeated this a few times and none of us were getting anywhere, so I reluctantly said my goodbyes and left her still chuckling away lol !

Now, saving the best til last, the main thing that attracted me to this stopover, was the fact that I had read it overlooked a wildlife park - I was so excited - I had a sneaky peak over the wall, but I don’t think I should have been there - oops, never mind - no one said anything. On our walk this evening I managed to get a couple of photos, but have identified a good viewing point for tomorrow and hopefully will be able to see more and capture the animals in a better light than this evening.
