We moved off the campsite today, having been there for the whole of October. We have met lots of lovely people here and it would be great if we manage to see them again in the future. Many of them come to Benidorm and stay for several months at a time and others live here permanently - but everyone is so friendly.

John and Iris were also leaving the campsite today, and were originally heading north, however they asked if they could join us on our travels to get a feel for wild camping. We are by no means experts, but are obviously happy for them to come with us and to share our experience.

Steve and Bernadette were keen for us to visit Guadalest before we left the area, and offered to lead us on Steve’s scooter, so we had a mini convoy.

Unfortunately, as today is a bank holiday in Spain, Guadalest was really busy, and we were unable to park the Motorhomes there. We drove further down the road where we parked our Motorhome up on some wasteland at the side of the road and John took us back up in his Motorhome. He then went back down to park his Motorhome against ours, and Steve gave him a lift back to us on his scooter - we got there eventually 👍

Guadalest is a small town in Valencia, in a mountainous part of Marina Baixa. The town was a strategic military stronghold with fortifications dating back to 715AD, and grew up around the fortress. We had a walk along the cobbled streets, with quaint shops and the most beautiful views of the river / damn below.

Steve then took John back to fetch his Motorhome so he could take us all back again. Watching John get onto the back of Steve’s scooter was hilarious - he had us all in stitches 🤣

It was then time to say “bye for now” to Steve and Bernadette - we have had such good laughs with them, and will definitely be keeping in touch.

We then made our way to Parcent, we led the way and John and Iris followed. The roads were narrow and winding with lots of hairpin bends, but what goes with that are the most beautiful views - I’m just glad I wasn’t the one driving 🙈.

We arrived at Victoria Station, an English pub we had stayed at before, and caught the sunset from the beer garden, with the most beautiful coloured sky.

We ended the day with a 3 course meal in the restaurant. It was a bit touch and go at one point, as Chris had chosen the whitebait as a starter and managed to get a fish bone stuck in his throat. Luckily, it did move eventually, but it was horrible to see him struggling with it 🙁.

We then moved into the bar area, and did our best at being backing singers for the karaoke. The songs they were singing were quite old, although I did manage to recognise the Jim Reeves ones, as my Dad played his records so much when I was little, he was one of his favourite singers, and I shed a tear as I miss my Dad so much 😢
