We both slept really well and woke to the sound of the church bells as they rang to announce it was 7am. Then another set of bells starting ringing, and continued to ring for 5 minutes - I’m sure everyone in the village is now wide awake 🔔
We left the park up looking to travel up to an hour to stop somewhere for lunch. The park up we stayed on last night is free, and it turns out a couple of Motorhomers are here full time, that’s France for you. As we reached the exit of the parking area, we were greeted with a local market, so we turned around and parked back up 😊
As we got out of the Motorhome, a couple walked past and we heard them speaking English (Bob and Barb). Obviously, we had a good chat. Turns out their alternator had broken and they had been on this stopover waiting for a local garage to help them out. As they had already been waiting for quite a few days, they were going to walk to a local Brico to see if they could purchase a generator, to at least get power for their lights. They had been going to bed at 7pm as it was too dark for them by then, but they did add that they start drinking at lunchtime 😂. We offered help, but they said they were fine, and off they went.
We had a look around the market, and brought some fresh fruit, then went back to the Motorhome again. We headed for the nearby Intermarche, to buy some essentials and to get fuel. As we were checking out, who should appear, yes, Bob and Barb. They had found a generator, but it was too heavy for them to carry and they asked if we would give them a lift back with it. Of course, we said yes 👍
We took them back, and it turns out they have a place near to Benidorm, which is where they were heading, so we exchanged numbers and agreed to meet up with them for a drink while we are there 🍻
We then left the park up for the 3rd time and headed towards Lyons-La-Foret, listed as one of France’s beautiful towns.
We parked up, had a walk round and then had lunch (fresh bread and cheese). There was a lovely little reading area with benches and books in an ornate mini library.
From there we headed to Gace, to a stopover that Bob and Barb had recommended. We had forgotten how many roundabouts there are in France. We had some fog on this journey, but when the sun came, it was beautiful.
This stopover was in front of the Mairie (city hall), such a beautiful building. It is down to the Mairie across France, that there are so many stopovers for Motorhomes, many of which are free. They really do welcome Motorhomers over here.
Here we go again with your lovely pictures! Nice to help Bob and Barb out! If now you would consider the accents on French words (Intermarché, Gacé) we're all happy 😂
