With being in Benidorm for the whole of October, I have decided to do the blogs week by week as we plan on chilling and won’t have a lot to write about 😊

Week 2 back in Arena Blanca, Benidorm has been quite a mixed week. I have enjoyed going to aqua aerobics at a neighbouring campsite and meeting new people from there. Iris has been coming with me, and loving it too. I have also started to do a few morning walks before the temperature gets too hot 🥵

On the 9th Oct, I went to a psychic night with Iris and Bernadette in a local bar. It was quite interesting and some of the things she was saying to people in the audience seemed to hit home with them. She had messages for both Iris and Bernadette and I was a little disappointed, she didn’t have any for me.

After she had finished I went to her and sang “It should have been me !”, laughing as I did so. She asked me to sit down and told me a few things which soon got me crying and wished I’d hadn’t said anything - but I had some of my unanswered questions answered.

On 10th Oct, we went to meet up with a friend from home, who was in Benidorm with her husband and another couple. We agreed to meet at the Queens Hotel, which had a roof terrace / bar that I had read about.

We wandered around struggling to find the hotel, and then as we were walking down hill following the map on my phone, Pauline was walking up the hill doing exactly the same. I just happened to look up, and there she was - it was lovely to see her.

We eventually managed to find the hotel together and had a great catch-up over a jug of sangria.

We then said our goodbyes and we went for tapas while we were in the old town. You can choose from a wide selection, and they were all lovely 😋

As we left the tapas bar, Chris felt his back go. He struggled all the way back to the Motorhome and just about managed to get onto the bed. He couldn’t move after that which was quite distressing to see.

My mind was working overtime, panicking about what we should do; how do I get him some help if he can’t get off his bed, should we go back to England (although we have no house to go back to), I have never driven the Motorhome and would have to learn to pretty damn quickly. I really didn’t know what to think or do.

The next day, he managed to get into a sitting position and he thought he would be able to sit in a taxi so that he could go and see a doctor. We went in, got registered and saw a doctor immediately. He was given 3 injections, and we were back in the Motorhome within an hour. The injections did seem to help to relieve some of the pain, and he managed to go for small walks around the campsite - it was all still very worrying though.

After a few days rest, on the 14th Oct, we managed to get to a local bar for their Monday fun quiz. We hadn’t been there long, when we had thunderstorms and the heavens opened. We had left our awning out and I was concerned that it may get damaged, so I went back to the Motorhome to wind it back in and close all our windrows. I got absolutely drenched, but was glad I went back when I did, as the wind picked up and had taken hold of the awning.

The evening was still young, so I dried myself off, got changed and made my way back to the quiz.

So, quite a mixed week, and now my head is in a pickle - fingers crossed Chris’ back eases soon ☹️

What an emotional few days you have had. Hope Chris will be okay and has plenty of painkillers. Good that you want to stay in the same place. Thinking of you both. Live for today. Have fun x
