We made our way to Duisburg today, to see Chris’ brother Andrew. We had 3 things to do in our way.
1. We needed LPG, and easily found a garage that sold it. 6€ for 17 litres, half the price compared to England, and a quarter of the price had we still been using gas bottles. It’s so convenient too as you don’t need to wait until the tank is empty to fill it up, you can top it up at any time. To have the tank fitted has already proved to be a good investment.
2. Next we needed cash, and good old google directed us to a cash machine.
3. Finally, we needed services to change water and empty the toilet (we have 2 cassettes, so we would never really be caught off guard). Finding services proved to be much more difficult. We visited 2 places that were identified as service points in the “serachforsites” web page, but none of them actually existed. We then made our way to a campsite to use their facilities, but it was only static caravans, had a barrier entry and no one was around. We then thought we’d just make our way to Andrew’s via the main roads and see if we could find somewhere on the way. Finally, we found a Motorhome stopover just off the main road in Venlo, which had good reviews. There was no one there, and they had an honesty box for an overnight stay of 12€ which included electric and WIFi, so we used the facilities and left a couple of euros.
The traffic in Germany was so busy, and with it being flat where we were, the wind really pulled at the Motorhome as we overtook lorries. As I was on the left side of the road, nearer to the lorries coming towards us, it was a little nerve wrecking, I really wouldn’t have liked to take my blood pressure then, it was only just getting back to normal from being so high in August. I was so glad to see Andrew waiting for us at the side of the road, knowing that today’s mad journey was nearly over.
It was lovely to spend the evening with Andrew, Gilly and Ingee and have a few German beers with him. He also loves the Black Lion, so we had a FaceTime conversation with Jason, Kacey and Laura from the pub.

Brilliant... Any solo sites or travellers around.
Thanks everyone 😊 x
