We travelled to Moulins today, along the main road, but not a motorway, avoiding tolls where we can. This road was particularly busy with lorries, and had lots of aires along side it. We arrived at tonight's stopover, which used to be a campsite, and charged - wait for it - 0.10 euro per hour !
We are on the banks of the Allier River, which we crossed to go to have a look around the town. The town was busy with shops and cafes etc. most of the shops close for lunch, and the cafes have many reservation signs on their tables, which we assumed were for the shop keepers. It was a pretty place to visit, albeit a little more commercialised than where we have visited before.
We were looking for somehere to eat, and as it was so hot (34 ) we opted for a Chinese, as you do when you're in France. I must say though, that the air conditionning was just amazing - they had both doors open !
We spent the afternoon / evening relaxing again - enjoying the sun, although it was really too hot to sit in the direct sun for too long. We were expected to have a storm later to cool the air, but it never came, so we cooled ourselves with gin and tonics, and a few beers !
