We had a walk around Schiltach this morning, and what a beautiful place it is - the river, the old tramway and the village itself. We still find it hard to believe how quiet everywhere is, and so few people about, it is just so peaceful.

The firemen looked like they were setting up for some event, they seem to organise quite a few charity events over here. It looked like a band was just arriving in their waistcoats with shiny buttons on them ! Unfortunately, we couldn’t stay as we were only allowed 24 hours where we were, so we made a move towards Tittisee Bahnhof.

Once again, the views were just magnificent, although the roads had sheer drops at the side and was quite scary in places. As you know by now, Chris doesn’t like heights, and at one point, we drove through a tunnel and straight out onto a bridge. To say he wasn’t best pleased was an understatement !

We had read about a stopover and that it was close to a village and a beautiful lake. Well, when we pulled up in a large car park and parked by the other Motorhomes, we weren’t really impressed and decided to just have a quick look around and then find somewhere else to stay for the night.

We followed the signs to the lake, which took us under a bridge and we were amazed at what we saw the other side. It was just like a Christmas market; shops, stalls, eateries and so many people - more than we have seen in our whole trip so far !

Even though the village and lake were beautiful, we didn’t fancy spending the night on the car park, plus it was going to be quite expensive for no facilities, so we had a look for somewhere else to go.

We decided on Todtnauberg. The roads were even worse here. We were literally driving through ski resorts, so you can imagine how high we had to climb and the hairpin bends. I don’t mind heights, but even I got a little concerned when I looked over at Chris and saw how close to the cliff top he was on his side, and how far down the village was below us - I mean, the rides at Alton Towers aren’t that bad - I can honestly say that I clung onto my seat for dear life !

We did eventually find Todtnauberg, but the stopover advertised didn’t exist, so we consulted the stopover options again, and this time headed for Zell Im Wiesenthal. When we got close to it, it looked all taped off, we thought that this wasn’t our day for finding a successful stopover. However, there was a fun run going on, and the tape was just marking out the route.

We parked up, and then wandered into the village for something to eat and then returned to the Motorhome for some chill time after such a nerve wrecking but oh so beautiful journey.

Feeling dizzy with the heights and wonderful views. Love the little bird and oriental poppy. Any idea why they love cuckoo clocks. Hope tomorrow is less stressful. Enjoy x
