Day 2 - 01/05/19 - Bergues

Today is a bank holiday in France, and they do the right thing in Bergues and close everything, and make the most of family time.  We are parked near  to a sports ground which has had a day of children’s football matches, and last night there was a running event where people seemed to be doing laps of the village until midnight.

We had a stroll around the town. Everyone was so friendly in their greetings to us, it felt like we were still in Stoke 😊.

Chris has discovered an amazing app where he  hovers his phone over menus/notices etc and you receive an immediate translation - really helpful whilst we are still trying to remember what we learned in our French lessons at school.

Bergues is a pretty village - lots of history with it having a circular city wall and we were surprised to see a canal within the town too.
