We left Barcelonnete and headed to Lac de Serre-Poncon. We had travelled along the top end of the lake previously and it was so beautiful, we thought we would take a look from the other side. We saw some interestingly dressed roundabouts on the way, and then travelled the typical mountain roads; narrow and winding but with beautiful views.

The lake was as beautiful as we remembered

From the lake we headed for a vineyard in Sisteron where we planned to stay tonight. We continued to travel through the mountains, passing through pretty villages, and lots of apple orchards, with the boxes set up ready to be filled.

We were welcomed to Sisteron, by the rugged rock formation. As we walked around the village later, we saw people climbing them !

We parked up and went to the village to have a look around the market stalls. They were beginning to pack up, but we managed to buy some lovely local goats cheese.

We had a Chinese for lunch - I had been pinning for one for a while and wasn’t disappointed in today’s set menu - it was delicious 😋

As we walked back, the land train was just about to leave for the Citadel, so we hopped on, had a little tour of the village and then he took up to the Citadel.

The views from the Citadel were amazing, you could see for miles all around.

We got the land train back to the village and there was a boules match on - obviously very serious by the amount of police on duty !

We made our way back to the Motorhome and I kept a close eye on facebook for updates of a friend of mine running the Hardmoors 60 - a 62 mile ultra marathon along the Yorkshire coastal path. Her husband (and coach) was supporting her, meeting her at key points around the course and provided the updates. It was so exciting as she crept closer and closer to the front runners. She is just amazing, and I am so pleased and proud for her, as she came 4th overall, and was the 1st lady - she completed the course in an awesome 11 hours and 8 minutes 👏
