We said goodbye to the mesmerising lake this morning, it was so calm an peaceful I could just stare into it all day. What is it about water that does that to you 🤔.
There were a couple of people fishing. Chris saw one of them out really early, baiting the lake, and it worked, as I saw him catch a really big fish 🎣 Another young lad was also learning to fish, and being taught by, I think, his grandad. He wasn’t casting out far enough, but just couldn’t seem to get there. With practice, I’m sure he’ll be just fine.
We headed back up the mountain and down the other side to get to the main road.
We passed through a couple of little villages.
These smaller roads are so dangerous, or maybe it’s the drivers who are dangerous. The roads are narrow enough, so steep and with hairpin bends, you really need to look where you’re going.
The roads are breaking away at the edges, in some places they were that bad that they had traffic lights - when you see the traffic lights, you know it’s bad !
Bearing all this in mind, we approached a blind bend and a car was on our side of the road heading straight for us, and he wasn’t even overtaking 😳. I’m sure he went on 2 wheels as he swerved to miss us at the last minute - so terrifying, but at least he missed us 🤒.
We eventually reached the main road, and had decided to take the toll to Venice, to give the Motorhome a break from all the rattling !
The campsite we are staying in, is right on the Venetian Lagoon, and you can see over to Venice and the other smaller islands - such a beautiful place 😊
Early evening, an English man travelling alone had locked himself out of his Motorhome, and was just in his swimming gear 🙈. Luckily he had done some washing during the day so he had a towel, shirt and shorts drying on his line. He just needed to have some shampoo from us, so he could get showered and dressed.
We invited him to sit with us and join us in a beer or 2, while he waited for the breakdown people to arrive. It was about 3 hours by the time they turned up, and they had such a struggle to get into his Motorhome, but did manage it eventually.
He was telling us about the tomatoes he had prepared with oil and basil this morning, and was going to have them with pasta and mozzarella this evening. However, he came back around with his left over pizza from last night instead !
So, we opened the wine and sat and talked with him some more. He then went and fetched some nut brittle and figs for us to share. A lovely unexpected evening with a very charming gentleman.
