Woke up to another beautiful day - we took a stroll to view the Tapada Grande - water sports / riverside beach. It was so peaceful and relaxing.

We spoke to a couple parked next to us from the Netherlands- they are well travelled, they have even been on a canal boat around Stoke-on-Trent, where we are from !

We set off travelling back to the south, stopping off to visit Mertola, where we walked around the village and up to the castle, before having a bite to eat.

Then on to the next village where we planned to stay the night - Alcoutim. The entrance to the stopover was so tight, we were millimetres from scratching the side of the motorhome, and then ended up grounding it ! I personally find these situations quite stressful (even though I wasn't driving), so I went for a little walk to destress. I had a long chat to an Irish chap with 2 dogs, and I learnt so much about his life. He also mentioned a beach bar that may be having live music on later, so I walked there to check it out. It was in a beautiful setting - so relaxing.

We then walked through the village and watched the river change colours as the sun went down, looking out onto the Spanish village across from us. The border between Portugal and Spain runs along the middle of the river Guadiana.
