We have been married for over 30 years, having always been the best of friends and enjoyed our time camping, caravaning and now motorhoming.  We have always worked hard, had a beautiful house and lots of lovely things within it.  We then had a few bereavements, and whilst sorting their personal belongings, we had lots of discussions asking ourselves what life is all about.

We put our house up for sale and received an offer which we were happy to accept.  We then spent a couple of months sorting through all our belongings, having a good cry reading letters etc that we had kept for years.  It was very difficult, but we knew that everything had to go.

We had decided to follow our dreams, and go travelling around Europe in our motorhome for a year, and then decide what to do after that when we return.  We spent the next 12 months or so saving up living in a static caravan for 6 months and then a wooden lodge for a further 8 months, saving for our adventure. This experience made us appreciate the basics in life, especially when the water froze, drains froze, we had no heating, and even the toilet failed to refill after flushing.  However, we took it in our stride, laughed about it, and got on with it.  We knew what was ahead of us and that's what kept us going.
